Uncovering how cells build tissues and organs |
URochester researchers from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, led by Assistant Professor Marisol Herrera-Perez, will shed new light on tissue and organ development by studying how cells interact mechanically with the extracellular matrix. Herrera-Perez received funding through a competitive Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health.

Applications for spring 2026 Course Operational Grants are due December 1. Learn more and get the RFP and apply online. Applications are also open for the Community-Engaged Learning Course Development Grant, which funds $10,000 to faculty who plan on developing a new course that combines academic learning and community-engagement opportunities for undergraduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences and the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. And, the Writing Fellows will be available during Write-A-Thon, which takes place from 2 p.m. Sunday, December 7, to 2 a.m. Monday, December 8, in Rush Rhees Library, Room G-122.
