URochester researchers led by Greg DeAngelis,  George Eastman Professor and professor of brain and cognitive sciences, of neuroscience, of biomedical engineering, and in the Center for Visual Science, have discovered that the visual motion of an image caused by eye movements helps us understand the world. The specific patterns of visual motion created by eye movements are useful to the brain for figuring out how objects move and where they are located in 3D space.

The next Phelps Colloquium, “From Aging Research to Aging Well: Paths to Translation,” is a joint session that brings together interdisciplinary perspectives on aging, resilience, and well-being, exploring how research can be translated into practical strategies that support healthy aging across diverse populations.
