New application process for visiting international students

The International Services Office has developed a new application process for hosting visiting international students in University departments. The ISO has also set up a training module for departments to learn about the new process. A free account is required to access the training. It’s recommended that departments complete the training before initiating any new visiting student requests. The process for hosting domestic visiting students remains the same. Email URVisitor@rochester.edu with questions.

Workshop on strengthening skills for Jewish allyship

UR Stars spotlight

Jenny Ganay-Vasquez and Justin Weissberg, Surgical Residents

Each week, we shine a spotlight on a faculty or staff member who has been recognized as a UR Star. Surgery residents Jenny Ganay-Vasquez and Justin Weissberg were recognized for demonstrating Excellence.

“I would like to recognize Dr. Ganay-Vasquez and Dr. Weissberg for their outstanding response during an unexpected Code Blue. Both happened to be nearby and were the first physicians on scene. Despite being interns who had never led a code before, they immediately stepped up, trying their best to organize the scene, initiating life-saving measures, and guiding the resuscitation process until the SICU team arrived. Their ability to remain composed, think critically, and try to lead in such a high-pressure moment was truly admirable. Thanks to their leadership and teamwork, the code remained controlled until the SICU team took over, and the patient was successfully resuscitated and transferred to the ICU. It takes courage and professionalism to act decisively in such an intimidating situation, and both of them rose to the occasion with remarkable composure and clinical excellence. I’m deeply proud of how they handled the event and demonstrated maturity, teamwork, and genuine dedication to patient care.”
