Flags will be lowered for Barbara Mahoney-Walker |
University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department, and the flags atop the Eastman Theatre at the corner of Gibbs and Main Streets, will be lowered on Tuesday, June 9, for Barbara Mahoney-Walker, an administrative coordinator in the Department of Medicine’s infectious disease unit, who died on May 7. Mahoney-Walker joined the University in 1998.

Join UR Medicine EAP and Well-U for a webinar on Tuesday, June 9, at noon, focused on navigating the complexities of the provider-patient-family interactions that occur within the context of dementia care. Learn more and register here.

Presentation for healthcare providers on chronic pain |
Faculty from URochester Medicine and the Warner School of Education & Human Development will present “Chronic Pain and the Brain: How Neuroplasticity Shapes Patient Symptoms” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, at the Rochester Academy of Medicine, 1441 East Avenue. Healthcare providers may attend either in person or virtually. Free CME credit will be provided to attendees. Find details and register to attend.

Support students through mRoc |
The mRoc (Managing Rochester’s Open Campus) team is a dedicated group of faculty and staff who assist students during registered events such as demonstrations, vigils, and peaceful protests. Their role is to guide, observe, and ensure these events align with the University’s values while upholding freedom of speech, assembly, and expression. Interested in joining? Training sessions take place on Wednesday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, or Tuesday, July 28, from 1 to 4 p.m., in Genesee Hall, Room 325. Email uslriskmgmt@rochester.edu with questions.

Schwartz Discover Grant professional development series |
The Office of Undergraduate Research is hosting a weekly professional development series for Schwartz Discover Grant Scholars in Dewey Hall on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. These sessions are open to all URochester undergraduate researchers. The series kicks off on June 3 with “Creating a Safe Research Space.” Pre-registrations are not required.
