Flags will be lowered for Cynthia Hervey |
University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department, and the flags atop the Eastman Theatre at the corner of Gibbs and Main Streets, will be lowered on Tuesday, August 4, for Cynthia Hervey, an assistant director of IT, who died on June 26. Hervey joined the University in 2009.

URochester Medicine researchers have developed a new CRISPR‑based tool that alters how prostate cancer cells produce a specific protein, helping the immune system detect and attack the tumor.

The next session of the Department of Psychiatry’s 2026 Summer Brown Bag Series is on Wednesday, July 22, at noon and features a discussion on including family members as true partners in patient treatment plans. Register to attend virtually or in person in the Helen Wood Hall Auditorium (1W-304).

An evening at MAG with author Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney |
Enjoy an evening with author Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney celebrating her work, the Flower City, and the art community. Sweeney will talk about her latest novel, Lake Effect—which features several Rochester staples, including the Memorial Art Gallery—her time at MAG, and share which works from the collection inspired her story. The event on Thursday, July 23, starts at 6 p.m., followed by a book signing at 7 p.m. Admission is free with a current URochester ID.

Celebrate National Pickleball Day on Saturday, August 8, with a fun and friendly tournament in College Town through the URochester Medicine Fitness Center. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Friends of Strong. Learn more.
