University Operations

Campuses remain closed to guests and visitors

With the exception of University medical and clinical care facilities, the University continues to be closed to outside guests or visitors until further notice. While we pride ourselves on having an open campus, the benefits of social distancing are best realized when outside in-person contact is limited. There are those who must visit campus, for example vendors and service personnel, who are essential to operations and research activities, but these individuals must wear masks when in public spaces and maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet.

Guidance for staff returning to campus

The University is still requiring that anyone who can work remotely continue to do so at this time. For those units or departments requiring an in-person presence, unit and department leaders should confirm each of the items are complete below before staff return:

  1. Staff who are returning to campus have completed the University’s COVID-19 training available in MyPath.
  2. Staff returning to campus have been instructed to complete the Dr. Chat Bot daily symptom tracker each day prior to coming to campus.
  3. Unit leaders have developed plans to ensure staffing within campuses offices and workspaces is less than 50 percent capacity at all times, per New York State guidelines.
  4. Unit leaders and all staff returning to campus adhere to the University’s Restart Plan and framework guidelines for restarting, which include operating parameters such as:
    1. Ensuring all staff and other individuals physically present adhere to social distancing and masking rules when in the presence of others
    2. Ensuring that cleaning and PPE supplies are readily available for staff
    3. Ensuring that all staff know to clean their work surfaces at the beginning of their day or shift
  5. Unit leaders confirm that their building is fully reactivated and ready for a return to work.
