Strong Memorial Hospital Chief Medical Officer Michael Apostolakos and Chief Operating Officer Kathleen Parrinello\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxxinews.org\/post\/hospital-system-leaders-reveal-surge-capacity-plans\">outlined those plans at a news conference<\/a>\u00a0with officials from the county and Rochester Regional Health yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>If all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/news\/story\/5632\/ur-medicine-hospitals-surge-plans.aspx\">three phases of the plan<\/a>\u00a0are activated, an additional 1,099 in-patient beds would be available.<\/p>\n<p>The public plays a huge role in whether these plans will need to be carried out, Apostolakos said.\u00a0\u201cThis is not simply about capacity. It\u2019s about demand of beds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe more social distancing we practice, the more that people take the governor\u2019s and the county executive\u2019s and other health officials\u2019 advice to stay home\u2014will save the hospitals\u2019 capacity and enable us to care for everyone and reduce mortality.
