As fall arrives, school districts across Rochester and surrounding counties have announced modified schedules, which means K-12 students may only attend school a few days a week, if at all. We recognize that parents unable to work remotely may be particularly challenged to arrange childcare for their school-aged children and provide the support needed to facilitate remote learning.<\/p>\n

The University is partnering with the YMCA to ease childcare challenges for employees most in need of assistance while schools operate on a modified schedule. The University has secured a limited number of spots in the YMCA\u2019s School of Roc program, which provides childcare and support for remote learning for students ages five through twelve. Parents have the option to enroll their children for two or three days a week. To help employees, the University will subsidize half the cost of the program. To be eligible for a subsidized spot through the University, you must:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Work full-time<\/li>\n
  2. Earn no more than $60,000 per year annual salary<\/li>\n
  3. Be in a job that is unable to be performed remotely<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Please note, 1199 SEIU bargaining unit staff are not eligible for this program and should refer to the collective bargaining agreement for childcare information.<\/p>\n

    Requests will be considered and approved on a first-come basis. Requests will be accepted until Monday, August 24 at noon, or until enrollment is full.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Email to request a spot<\/a><\/p>\n

    To request a spot(s) for this program, email URMCChildCare@URMC.Rochester.edu<\/a>. The email should include the number of children ages five through twelve to be enrolled and the name of their home school district. Responses and registration details will be sent by email within one business day.<\/p>\n

    For employees who are not eligible for this subsidized program, please note the YMCA will be sending information to its members soon to invite them to enroll their children in the Y School of ROC at the standard rate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
