Under newly passed New York State legislation, employees who work in New York State can receive up to four hours of protected paid time off where time off from work is necessary to receive the vaccine without having to use their existing PTO, sick time, or vacation. At the University this includes staff, faculty, residents, fellows, postdoctoral appointees, Strong Staffing temporary employees, and student employees.<\/p>\n<p>Employees must alert their managers and timekeepers in advance of their appointment and use the following time reporting codes for time away from work to receive a COVID-19 vaccine:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hourly-paid employees: CVA (COVID Vaccine Appointment)<\/li>\n<li>Salaried employees: CVS (COVID Vaccine Salaried)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Employees can receive up to four hours of paid time off for each dose they require and receive during work hours, including any booster shots that become available. This time will be retroactive to any vaccines received on or after March 12, 2021, until December 31, 2022, and is in addition to the time granted by the University for those full-time and part-time employees <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/2021\/02\/15\/covid-19-vaccine-sick-day\/\">experiencing severe side effects<\/a> following their second dose.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, view the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/policies\/policy\/time-off-to-receive-a-covid-19-vaccine\/\">Time Off to Receive a COVID-19 Vaccine policy<\/a> or these helpful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/benefits\/leave-disability\/time-off-to-receive-a-covid-19-vaccine\/\">FAQs<\/a>.
