\nRE: Vaccine Requirement Policy and Exemption Details<\/h5>\n

As you know, the University is instituting a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for all faculty and staff<\/a> effective September 27, 2021. Additionally, New York State recently passed a mandate for health care workers, which covers many of our University\u2019s employees.<\/p>\n

The full details of the University\u2019s requirement are now available through the COVID-19 Healthcare Provider Vaccination Policy (#164)<\/a>, which applies to those individuals at the University for Rochester Medical Center covered by the New York State mandate<\/a>, and the COVID-19 Vaccine Policy (#165)<\/a> for all other employees, including additional clarity for employees looking to request an exemption.<\/p>\n

As previously stated, the medical exemptions align with FDA\/CDC vaccine contraindications (severe, life threatening allergic reactions). Additionally, we have clarified that University employees may apply for a religious exemption, including those who are covered under the New York state mandate. An online exemption request form will be available at this link<\/a> on Tuesday September 7, 2021.<\/p>\n

For more than 18 months our University has grappled with this pandemic, and while stressful at times, it also has been gratifying to see our faculty and staff pulling together to address this unprecedented challenge.
