Discount RPO tickets offered to University community

violinThe Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has launched a new web site, www.rpo.org/ur, to update the University community about discount tickets available for upcoming RPO performances.

“The RPO and the University of Rochester have been closely linked for nearly 90 years, and we are constantly looking for new ways to strengthen and deepen that partnership,” says Charlie Owens, RPO president and CEO. “We are especially proud to extend a special welcome to the University community with discounted ticket promotions.”

University faculty, staff, and students can purchase $10 tickets for the following events:

  • Fire and Water on Feb. 17 and 19 in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. Praised by the New York Times as a “high powered soloist,” Lara St. John performs the United States premiere of Matthew Hindson’s Violin Concerto, led by Sarah Ioannides, a conductor of “unquestionable strength and authority.”
  • Beethoven’s Fourth Concerto, with internationally renowned German pianist Markus Groh on March 3 and 5 in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. The program culminates with Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony, led by Israeli conductor Yoav Talmi.

To take advantage of the special University rate, call the RPO Box Office at 454-2100 and mention the discount to the representative. You can also buy discount tickets online at www.rpo.org/ur.
