A Thousand Cranes for Japan

people making origami cranes

Eastman School students folded more than 1,000 origami cranes, following a Japanese tradition for luck. The daylong “A Thousand Cranes” event collected more than $1,500 for the Japanese Red Cross Society to help those affected by the March earthquake and tsunami. From April 12 to 16, members of several student organizations also made cranes at various sites on the River Campus to raise money for the Red Cross.
