University receives United Way Award

Seligman and Demeo

President Joel Seligman and Andrea Demeo, director of the University’s annual United Way campaign, were honored with the United Way Chairperson’s Award in recognition of the University’s surpassing its fundraising goal of $1.3 million by more than $112,000. Wegmans was also selected for the award. Essie Calhoun, retired vice president of Eastman Kodak Co. and chair of the 2011 campaign, selected the University because of the significant efforts made to make change in the community and the outstanding campaign results achieved by the University. Demeo, executive director and chief operating officer for the Center for Community Health, also was recently named an honoree for the 2011 Greater Rochester Awards as a Community Champion, in recognition of her work in our community’s nonprofit human services sector.
