Thousands expected for annual Meliora Weekend

staff and students singingThe 11th Meliora Weekend, Oct. 20–23, offers a variety of events and activities for alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff.

This year’s festivities include a keynote address by President Bill Clinton, a symposium with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, a performance by comedian Russell Peters, and more.The University community is invited to a Celebration of Meliora, an evening that will celebrate the history of the University and its future promise. The event, which runs from 8–11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in the Goergen Athletic Center, features performances by student groups, interactive exhibits that showcase research discoveries at Rochester, and a program with President Joel Seligman and Board Chair Ed Hajim ’58. Guests are welcome to stop by for any portion of the evening for food and drink and mingle with alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff.Other events of note include:

Eastman Philharmonia

Friday, Oct. 21
8–9:15 p.m.
The Eastman Philharmonia and conductor Neil Varon will perform works from Mozart, Bartók, and Bloch, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Overture to La clemenza di Tito, K 621. The performance will take place in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.


Rochester Football vs. Worchester PoIytechnic Institute

Saturday, Oct. 22
1–4 p.m.
Cheer on the Yellowjackets as they take on Worchester Polytechnic Institute in Fauver Stadium.


Rochester Dinner Revue

Saturday, Oct. 22
5–7 p.m.
Dine in the Wilson Quad.
