United Way campaign kicks off next month

Live United graphiAs the New Year begins, University Leadership and the United Way of Greater Rochester again thank those who donated to last year’s United Way campaign. In addition to the employees listed in the donor supplement contained in this issue of Currents, the University thanks employees and retirees who generously contribute but whose names may not appear due to their wish to remain anonymous.

President Joel Seligman will kick off the 2012 campaign in a few short weeks. The University hopes to increase the total dollars raised and employee participation in the annual campaign, and asks all employees to consider making a donation. United Way uses the community’s collective donations to assist friends, neighbors, and coworkers who may be going through difficult times and will benefit from the support.

United Way is committed to going beyond the traditional fundraising approach, and has funded programs that are evidence-based and have shown a positive impact. Strategies like parenting education are evaluated for effectiveness and positive results. Programs are increasing parent knowledge, decreasing child maltreatment, reducing behavioral problems, and increasing school readiness. For more information on United Way-funded programs, visit www.uwrochester.org.

Watch for information on the University campaign. Paper pledge forms will be available for download at www.rochester.edu/unitedway by Feb. 1, and the online pledging system, “ePledge,” will be available starting Feb. 15. For more information about the University campaign, call 224-2871.
