Reasons to "Live United"

Give-Advocate-Volunteer- Live United banner

To date, the University’s United Way campaign has raised more than 60 percent of its $1.4 million goal to support the Rochester community.

Donors can designate gifts to select charities or give to the community fund, which helps fund the United Way’s priority areas: delivering basic needs, supporting seniors and caregivers, giving babies the best start, and preparing kids for success. Pledges can be made online through the ePledge tool, available at www.rochester.edu/unitedway/epledge. Continuous pledge is also an option where your pledge remains from year to year. Should your wishes change you can modify or cancel your pledge at any time.

University Campaign leaders offer the following reasons why employees should give to United Way:

  • United Way works to ensure that people in need have access to critical services that will change people lives for the better.
  • United Way identifies critical issues. Talking with hundreds of people in our community, United Way learned what matters most to people: helping local families meet their most basic needs, giving babies the best start to life, preparing kids for success and caring for our elders and their caregivers.
  • United Way uses donations to the community fund to support a combination of programs proven to address critical needs. Community Fund investments focus on prevention by supporting programs proven to work and help the most people possible
United Way ensures that community fund programs show results and change lives. Working with community fund agencies, United Way evaluates the results of each program and overall impact.
  • For more than 90 years, United Way of Greater Rochester has been committed to making the community a better place to live.
