Walking (safely) in a winter wonderland

snow outside the Eisenberg Rotunda

A fresh coat of snow covers the grounds near Eisenberg Rotunda in Schlegel Hall on the River Campus last winter. Before the next storm system hits the local radar this year, here are a few points to keep in mind. The University monitors each storm closely, and Facilities and Services crews work to keep roads, pedestrian paths, and parking lots as clear as possible. Call the snow removal hotline at 275-0000 to report hazardous walking conditions and review some tips on walking safely in winter. In the rare event that widespread cancellations are necessary, they’ll be included on the University’s homepage, www.rochester.edu. Note: Everyone who works at the Medical Center—whether at Elmwood Avenue or an off-site location—is considered “essential staff” and is required to report during severe weather. Visit www.rochester.edu/working/emergency/weather for more information. Winter walking safety tips are also available at www.safety.rochester.edu/safetyinfo/winterwalkingsafety.
