Shaun Nelms ’04W (MS) ’13W (EdD), current deputy superintendent of the Greece Central School District and a former chief of schools for the Rochester City School District, will become East High School’s new deputy superintendent, a position created under the partnership between the University and East High School.

Elika Bergelson, a research assistant professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, was selected for the 2015 list of “30 Under 30” in Science in Forbes magazine. Bergelson was recently granted one of the National Institute of Health’s Early Independence Awards, which will provide $250,000 per year for the next five years towards her research. Her focus is on the development of language in infants, and she studies how babies ages 6 months to 18 months learn words from the visual, social, and linguistic world around them.

David Bleich, professor of English, has been named recipient of the 2015 Conference on College Composition and Communication Outstanding Book Award in the Monograph category for his book, The Materiality of Language: Gender, Politics, and the University.
