Visiting Scholars Fund
The University of Rochester is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for learning, research, and teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. To accomplish this, we bring together faculty, students, and staff who have achieved excellence and who are dedicated to building an inclusive community that encourages all of its members to succeed and grow.
The Visiting Scholars Fund seeks to attract scholars who will contribute to the University’s Inclusive Community goals to provide excellence in research, teaching, and service at the University of Rochester.
Are you eligible to apply?
Applications from all academic areas of the University are encouraged. Individuals may not apply directly to the Office for Faculty Development and Diversity. Individuals from outside the University must contact the specific department/unit/or schools where they would like to work. It is essential that departments provide support for resources, space, and staff.
To be eligible for the fund, you must demonstrate how the applicant or application promotes achieving the University’s Inclusive Community goals. The terms of the award for visiting scholars are intentionally broad. Funding is only available for short-term appointments of up to four months.
For example, the fund can be used for scholars to give lectures in specific classes, meet with graduate students, or consult on research programs or writing projects. Proposals are solicited on a rolling basis.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted by University of Rochester faculty in either electronic form (PDF) or in hard copy. The Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity will evaluate applications on a rolling basis.
