Check your eligibility status and the amount for which you qualify with your service prior to enrolling.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nWe are committed to serving as a resource to veteran students and their families. The Financial Aid Office works in conjunction with the Veteran and Military Family Services Office to determine award eligibility and to make sure that it is disbursed to the student\u2019s account when applicable.\r\n\r\nThe University of Rochester is a Yellow Ribbon school. Veterans with Post-9\/11 GI Bill coverage at the 100% level will have tuition and mandatory fees covered in full. Your VA benefits will cover up to the maximum amount allowed and the University matches dollar for dollar the remaining expenses.\r\n\r\nFurther information regarding veteran education benefits may be found at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/\">US Department of Veteran Affairs website<\/a>.\r\n\r\nInformation on scholarships for military families may be found on the Department of Education's <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/scholarships-for-military.pdf\">Federal Student Aid website<\/a>.\r\n<h3><strong>How veterans educational benefits may affect your financial aid<\/strong><\/h3>\r\nIf you file your financial aid application before you know the amount of your actual veteran\u2019s educational benefits, you will receive an estimated financial aid award based on non-eligibility for VA funding.\r\n\r\nOnce notification of your actual benefits is received, your financial aid award will be recalculated. While veteran\u2019s benefits will not affect the amount of federal financial aid you are eligible for, they may change state, institutional, and private\/alternative loan eligibility.\r\n\r\nFor students receiving full VA benefits, a complete recalculation of the aid package will occur, which will result in the elimination of all need-based institutional grant funding. You will be notified of these changes via email and you will be able to log in and view the updates via <a href=\"https:\/\/faonline.rochester.edu\/logon.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fPgHome.aspx\">FAOnline<\/a>.","background_color":"#ffffff","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"types-of-benefits","css_class":"","title":"<h2>Types of military benefits<\/h2>","content":"<h3>Post-9\/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)<\/h3>\r\n<h4>Tuition &amp; Fees<\/h4>\r\nFor 2026\u201327, qualified veterans and dependent students with transferred benefits at the 100 percent benefit level will receive up to $30,908.34 per academic year toward tuition and fees (paid directly to the college). Those with less than 100 percent benefit will receive their prorated benefit level.\r\n<h4>Books<\/h4>\r\nQualified students can receive up to $1,000\/year ($41.67\/credit hour), unless your eligibility is prorated. This is paid directly to the veteran in a lump sum each semester.\r\n\r\nMonthly benefit (Paid directly to the veteran or qualified dependent during periods of enrollment and while school is in session. Prorated based on course load.)\r\n<h4>Housing<\/h4>\r\nQualified students are eligible for a monthly housing allowance equivalent to an E-5 rank with dependents based on the University of Rochester\u2019s zip code ($2,079\/month), unless your benefit level is prorated or you are not taking a full time course-load.\r\n<h3>Yellow Ribbon Program<\/h3>\r\nThe Yellow Ribbon Program makes additional funds available to you if you are receiving Post-9\/11 GI Bill coverage at the 100 percent benefit level. The University of Rochester has enrolled to participate in the program for the 2025\u201326 academic year for all eligible undergraduate and graduate students. The VA will match each additional dollar awarded by the University up to total tuition and mandatory fees. Dependents and spouses must have at least four months of transferred eligibility to cover a full semester.\r\n<h3>Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31)<\/h3>\r\n<h4>Tuition &amp; Fees<\/h4>\r\nQualified veterans will receive 100 percent tuition and mandatory fees.\r\n<h4>Books<\/h4>\r\nFull cost of books covered.\r\n\r\nMonthly benefit (Paid directly to the veteran or qualified dependent during periods of enrollment and while school is in session.
