It will also include a major expansion of the Emergency Department, which originally was built to accommodate 66,000 visits each year and now sees more than 110,000 annually. The expansion will more than triple the size of Strong\u2019s Emergency Department, adding more than 200 examination, treatment, and observation stations and increasing capacity to serve 130,000 visits per year. It will also expand psychiatric emergency services to better support pediatric and adult patients and families across the region. When complete, Strong Memorial Hospital will be among the nation\u2019s largest hospitals, with 940 beds.
