{"id":18606,"date":"2020-01-20T16:04:14","date_gmt":"2020-01-20T21:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/?page_id=18606"},"modified":"2024-05-07T09:14:11","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T13:14:11","slug":"retiree-eligibility-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/benefits\/retiree-benefits-resources\/retiree-eligibility-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Retiree Eligibility Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Retiree eligibility requirements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have at least 15 years of benefits eligible service\u019a<\/li>\n<li>5 years of continuous benefits eligible service at the University of Rochester leading up to retirement<\/li>\n<li>Age 60+*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u019a Service requirements may be met or enhanced with the consideration of previous UR employment or employment at another higher education facility.\u00a0<a class=\"u-link-pdf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Service-Credit-5R_12.11.2020.pdf\">See form here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>* If you were hired before 1\/1\/1996 and have remained in a benefits eligible since then, you are eligible to retire age 55+<\/p>\n<p>Additional Note: Contribution towards the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/benefits\/retiree-benefits-resources\/retiree-health-care-rates\/\">non-Medicare eligible health plans<\/a> or towards the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/human-resources\/benefits\/retiree-benefits-resources\/health-reimbursement-arrangement\/\">Health Reimbursement Arrangement<\/a> for Medicare eligible retirees is determined by retirement status. If the employee meets 15 years of full-time equivalent service, the employee is considered a full-time retiree and the full-time amount is awarded. If the employee meets 15 years of part-time equivalent service, the employee is considered a part-time retiree and half of the full-time amount is awarded. The retirement status is based on cumulative service time, not the status at the time of retirement. Two years of part-time service is equivalent to one year of full-time service.
