This includes working with nurses to provide a variety of treatment plans to both groups and individuals. Treatment can include delivering care to patients and families in the form of role-playing and modeling. The Sr. Psych Tech may coordinate the work of a Nursing Assistant. The Sr. Psych Tech also participates in ongoing staff development.\r\n<h2>Minimum education and experience<\/h2>\r\nAssociate of Applied Science degree in a Psychology or Sociology field and two to three years of behavioral experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\r\n<h2>Knowledge, skills, and abilities<\/h2>\r\nStrong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently. Innovative with patient care. Flexible in thinking and approach.\r\n<h2>Days\/hours<\/h2>\r\nThis position requires day\/evening\/night\/weekend and holiday availability.\r\n<h2>Position locations<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/strong-nursing\/recruitment\/unit-listing\/psychiatry.aspx\"><strong>Strong Memorial Hospital \u2013 Psychiatry Units<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.urmc.rochester.edu\/strong-memorial\/visiting-information\/emergency-room.aspx\"><strong>Emergency Department<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2>Work environment<\/h2>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Physical Environment<\/strong>: Work is primarily indoors in clinical, residential, or secure settings. The role may involve physical activity, such as assisting patients with mobility, restraining individuals in crisis, or participating in therapeutic activities. Safety measures are in place to prevent harm to patients and staff.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Team-Based Care<\/strong>: Sr. Psych Techs collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and counselors. They may also supervise junior staff and provide training.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Patient Interaction<\/strong>: They work closely with diverse patients, monitoring behavior and assisting with daily activities.
