We are now more than one year into the Career Path Modernization (CPM) Project, which will provide the University with a new job structure\u2014the foundation for how we hire, pay, develop, and advance our workforce. As we reflect on the past year, we want to share the milestones we reached in 2021, <\/strong>our goals for 2022<\/strong>, and invite you to join us for our upcoming Community Forum and Q&A sessions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2021 Progress<\/strong><\/p>\n

We developed a new Compensation Philosophy<\/strong> that will guide the future of employee pay at the University in a consistent, fair, and equitable way. Developed with input from stakeholders across the institution, it\u2019s in the final stages of senior leadership reviews. We look forward to sharing it with the University community on the HR website in the coming weeks once finalized.<\/p>\n

Our new job structure will provide the framework for how we organize jobs to better understand the work being done. A preliminary job structure<\/strong> has been developed and refined with representatives from departments across the organization. It’s currently being reviewed by stakeholder groups and will be reviewed by senior leadership in the spring. A primary focus for 2022 will be organizing jobs into the new structure, and further refining the structure as needed. A preliminary market alignment framework<\/strong> has been identified to create consistency in how the University compares its compensation to the market. These important steps mark the foundation for the work planned for the upcoming year.<\/p>\n

Focus for 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most significant focus for the year ahead will be ensuring staff are aligned to the most relevant job profile (or classification), which will drive how each of us fit into the new job structure. This will rely heavily on departmental input including staff to ensure the work being performed by our employees is accurately captured and articulated in position descriptions. This process will begin after the preliminary job structure is approved this spring.<\/p>\n

Another critical focus for 2022 is establishing transparency<\/strong> around jobs and pay moving forward. We recognize that this is very important to our employees and we are committed to improved transparency as part of the CPM project.<\/p>\n

Opportunities to Learn More<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following our summer Employee Forums, the CPM Project Team received feedback that many attendees were looking for more interaction. In response to that feedback, we will be hosting a Community CPM Update on March 2 <\/strong>to share the latest information about the project, followed by a series of Q&A sessions throughout March, facilitated by the co-chairs of the Genesee Staff Council, for the project team to address your questions. All sessions require advance registration<\/a>.<\/p>\n
