Examples include:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/iso\/scholars-employees\/h-1b\/\">H-1B workers<\/a><\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/iso\/visas\/dependents\/\">J-2 and H-4 dependents<\/a><\/li>\r\n \t<li>Individuals in E, G, or L categories (F-2 dependents have limited part-time permission to study)<\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/iso\/visas\/b-1-b-2\/study-visitor\/\">B-1 and B-2 visitors<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nHowever, if you will receive award payments or plan to work on campus, you need to determine whether you have the appropriate work authorization. To learn about your permissions, contact your visa sponsor or visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/\">US Citizenship and Immigration Services website<\/a>.\r\n<h3>Changing to a student category<\/h3>\r\nIf you are considering a change to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/iso\/new-students\/student-visa-categories\/\">F-1 or J-1 status<\/a>, please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/iso\/contact\/\">contact our office<\/a> to discuss your situation with an advisor.\r\n\r\nFor instance, there may be benefits available under a student category that will allow you to take advantage of different opportunities at the University. There are associated requirements and timing issues that must be addressed as well.\r\n\r\nRegardless of how far along you are in your program of study, you would be considered an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/iso\/new-students\/\">incoming student<\/a>\u00a0who needs to process all of the necessary paperwork to obtain F-1 or J-1 status.","background_color":"#ffffff","width":"width-medium"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","anchor":"sponsored","css_class":"","title":"<h2>Sponsored students (Fulbright, AmidEast, LASPAU, etc.)<\/h2>","content":"The International Services Office (ISO) welcomes you to the University of Rochester and invites you to participate in all our programs and services.\r\n\r\nWe will need some information about you to be prepared for your arrival.
