University Appoints Quchee Collins Inaugural AVP of Public Safety
Quchee Collins is joining the University of Rochester as the inaugural associate vice president (AVP) for Public Safety and chief public safety officer. Collins brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience transforming public safety operations at major institutions such as the City University of New York (CUNY), and New York City’s civic agencies. His appointment goes into effect on July 1.
Position overview
The University seeks an experienced, visionary, and community-oriented public safety leader to serve as its Associate Vice President of Public Safety and Chief Public Safety Officer. This newly elevated position has strategic oversight of all aspects of public safety on all University of Rochester properties.
The AVP is charged with ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, faculty, patients, and visitors and works to monitor, respond to, and manage public safety and security needs in a timely, respectful, and inclusive manner. A visionary for campus safety, they will formulate and implement plans to modernize the University’s approach to safety and security, keeping current with regulatory requirements while considering the impact on all who live and work at the University and those who visit and put their trust in the institution.
This senior leader is responsible for maintaining public safety on all University campuses; engaging, listening to, and training students, staff, and community members; leading just and transparent operations; and ensuring the equitable and consistent enforcement of all federal, state, and local laws.
