Meliora Weekend is October 8-11, 2015
Registration information is sent in early summer and will be updated on this Website. The preferred method of registration is online, through this site. Registration closes on Friday, October 2 at noon EDT. To cancel reservations or a guest, you must indicate changes in writing and email firstname.lastname@example.org. or fax to 585.276.2623. Written requests for cancellations must be received by midnight September 27, 2015, less a $10 processing fee. No refunds will be given after September 27.
Yes. However, we strongly encourage you to register in advance as many events will sell out.
River Campus parking is available but limited, especially when classes are in session on Friday. Shuttle service is provided to and from campus lots. If you plan to come to campus Thursday evening, parking is open where legal spaces are available.
Yes. Once you arrive on campus, parking staff can direct you to the closest available handicap parking space. You must have a government-issued handicap parking sticker in order to utilize these spaces. More information will be provided this fall to those requesting handicap parking on their registration form.
Limited shuttle service is provided to and from many hotels listed on this Website. Shuttles will also be provided between select off-campus events, hotels, and the River Campus. Golf carts are available on the River Campus to assist guests who need assistance. Transportation is not available from the airport to campus.
Meliora Weekend includes a range of programs, including major speakers, entertainment, symposia and panel discussions, reunion events, sporting events, seminars, open houses, and much more.
Yes! Alumni, parents, and friends are encouraged to bring their entire family to Meliora Weekend. A variety of programs are specially designed for children of all ages.
The Children's School at the University of Rochester Medical Center will provide a list of qualified (by New York State clearances) childcare providers to registrants with childcare needs during the weekend. Please note that childcare will not be provided at The Children's School, but at Meliora Weekend sites. The deadline for requests is September 8. There is limited availability, and childcare providers will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please email Tiffany VanAuker (Center Director) at email@example.com or call 585.273.3677.
The general dress code for the weekend is casual attire. However, for reunion dinners you may want to change to business attire. We strongly advise you to bring an umbrella and suitable clothing for variable weather.
The University of Rochester is committed to making its campuses accessible to persons with disabilities. However, not all areas are fully accessible. Please contact us if you have specific needs and we can assist you. Maps of ADA accessibility will be available at on-site registration.
Rochester’s Goergen Athletic Center on the River Campus is available for returning alumni, families, and their guests. Take a swim in the pool, use the indoor track, or sweat it out on the free weights, exercise bicycles, treadmills, and rowing machines. Show your weekend name badge at the Goergen Athletic Center front desk for free admittance.
Meliora Weekend was founded in 2001 following the successful Sesquicentennial celebration of 2000. The weekend celebrates reunions, family weekend and homecoming activities. It is designed for alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends of the University of Rochester.
A simulcast is a closed-circuit broadcast of an event, while it is taking place. In the case of the keynote address, we will "simulcast" Wlater Isaacson's address on campus while he speaks live at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.
There will be NO keynote lottery held for Meliora Weekend 2015. Early registration will be provided for George Eastman Circle Members and Reunion 25th and 50th class members. Information on this will go out later in the summer.
Registration fees help to offset the tremendous infrastructure efforts required for Meliora Weekend: tents, golf carts, keynote speaker, facilities, shuttles, and public safety. Even with these registration fees, the University greatly subsidizes Meliora Weekend.
If you must cancel your reservation, refunds will be given for written cancellation requests received by midnight September 27, 2015, less a $10 processing fee. Due to catering and logistical commitments, no refunds will be given after this date. Email requests to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 585.276.2623.
There are many options for dining on campus throughout the weekend. They will be listed here later in the summer as details are confirmed.
