What is Meliora Weekend?

Meliora Weekend is an annual celebration featuring the best of the University of Rochester. Combining Family Weekend, Reunions, world-renowed headliner talent, and faculty and student showcases, October 3–6 will offer something exciting for everyone. Who is Meliora Weekend for?

Everyone! Meliora Weekend is designed for University of Rochester alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and students. Members of the Rochester community are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Posting Tips:

Share videos and posts from the University of Rochester Alumni Facebook (@URAlumniRelations) and Instagram (@uofralumni) accounts to your personal pages.

Share posts from the alumni Instagram account to your story. See demo video or read how here.

Post links to registration and your favorite events! Links should only be included with Facebook posts, as they are not clickable in Instagram unless placed in your bio. If posting to Instagram, use #linkinbio, or “Link in bio” in copy, and then place the URL in your profile.

Make sure your posts are “Public”. See below on how to make your posts public on different platforms.


New Post: Click here for a video demo

  1. Write your post in the “What’s on your mind?” section.
  2. Click on the drop-down menu directly below your name.
  3. You will see the “Who can see your post?” options.
  4. Select “Public.”

  1. Click on the ellipsis icon (…) located to the right of the post.
  2. Select “Edit Post.”
  3. Click on the drop-down menu directly below your name.
  4. You will see the “Who can see your post?” options.
  5. Select “Public.”

  1. Navigate to your profile and tap the  icon.
  2. Select “Settings,” and then “Privacy.”
  3. Beneath “Connections,” you should see “Account Privacy.”
  4. Make sure the “Private Account” toggle is switched to off.

  1. In the top menu, tap your profile icon, then select “Settings and privacy.”
  2. Tap “Privacy and safety.”
  3. Under Tweets, make sure the “Protect your Tweets” toggle is switched to off.

  1. Write your post in the “Start a post” section.
  2. Click on the drop-down menu directly below your icon
  3. You will see the “Who can see this post?” options
  4. Select “Anyone”

  • Meliora Weekend 2019 is October 3-6. Bring it home to reconnect, reminisce, and enjoy the biggest celebration of the year! You can register online at: rochester.edu/melioraweekend.
  • 2019 Headliners are:
    • Jon Batiste – singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and leader of the group Stay Human—house band of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
    • Ann Patchett – Celebrated literacy champion and author of seven books, including international bestseller Bel Canto.
    • Vanessa Bayer – Emmy-nominated actress, comedian, and Saturday Night Live alumna
  • This year is historic as the University will commemorate the inauguration of the University of Rochester’s 11th president, Sarah C. Mangelsdorf, and officially welcome her to Rochester.
