A daylong conference with workshops, networking opportunities, and guest speakers to help meet the needs of professional school counselors will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Airport Holiday Inn on Brooks Avenue.
Sponsored by the Center for Professional Development and Education Reform, conference sessions will deal with such topics as developing counselors' leadership skills, fostering collaborations between home, school and community, and learning new ways to help children cope with stressful situations. The center is an initiative of the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester.
The luncheon speaker will be Frank Ardino, director of human services for the town of Greece. A human services expert and consultant, Ardino will discuss how to build collaborative relationships. He received his master's degree from the Warner School.
This year's conference theme of building and sustaining relationships in school and community is supported by the Monroe County School Counselor Association; New York State School Counselor Association; Coordinated School Health Network Center; Upsilon Rho and Nu Chapters of Chi Sigma Iota; Department of Counselor Education at SUNY Brockport; Rochester City School District Counseling Department; and Counseling and Human Development Faculty of the Warner School.
Conference registration is $59. Preregistration is required by Thursday, Jan. 17. For more information, contact the Center for Professional Development and Education Reform at (585) 275-8270.
