The Sixth Annual Institute on Catholic Education at the University of Rochester will examine crucial issues for Catholic schools as they look to the 21st century.
This year's Institute, entitled "Empowering the Future," will be a two-day program hosted by the University's Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development on July 6 and 7. Workshops and lectures will be held on issues such as the past and future of Catholic schools, defining Catholic identity, and empowering Catholic leadership.
The Institute is designed for teachers, school administrators, priests, board and committee members, parents, members of parish and civic communities, and those interested in shaping the future direction of Catholic schools.
Speakers at the Institute will include Dr. Elinor R. Ford, a national consultant and speaker for educational, catechetical and hospital ministries; and Frank X. Savage, executive director of National Catholic Educational Association's Department of Chief Administrators of Catholic Education.
"The conference has been extremely successful in the past," said Edwardine Weaver, assistant professor and director of professional development at the education school. "Our national perspective on topics and the challenging content of our discussions have brought people back and allowed us to grow."
The early registration fee for single individuals is $148; after June 12 the fee is $168. For groups of five or more from the same institution there is a ten percent discount on the registration fee. On-campus housing will be available. A copy of the program is attached.
