Krzysztof Biedrzycki, professor of Polish literature at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, will speak on "The Best Readings at the Turn of the Century" at a program co-sponsored by the Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies at the University of Rochester and Writers & Books. The event will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, in the Rundel Public Library, 115 South Ave.
Biedrzycki, a former visiting professor at the University of Rochester, is a Kosciuszko Foundation Senior Teaching Fellow in Polish Literature and currently a visiting professor at Central Connecticut University. He authors books, film reviews and edits a literary journal. His books and articles are widely published in Poland. The talk is part of a series created by Writers & Books, Rochester's literary center that promotes writing and reading, on literary trends and the emerging role of literature in Eastern and Central Europe after decades of censorship.
The Skalny Center for Polish and Central European Studies brings together faculty and students to study the historical legacy and political and economic changes within Central Europe. Throughout the year, the center hosts a film series, lectures, performances and other community events. This program is free and open to the public.
