TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 9 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, on the Fraternity Quadrangle of the University of Rochester's River Campus.
ADMISSION: Free, but donations accepted for the scholarship fund.
To demonstrate its commitment to a strong academic experience and a vibrant Greek community, the Beta Phi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity is hosting a benefit concert tonight at the University of Rochester. The concert will pay tribute to Jeremy Glick, a 1993 alumnus, and others who died in the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Several local bands will play on the Fraternity Quadrangle in the shadow of the American flag.
On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, Glick boarded United Flight 93 in Newark for a business trip to California. When hijackers took control of the plane, he and others phoned family and friends about a plan to overtake the terrorists. Not long after, the plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania, killing them all.
In memory of Glick and his heroism, a scholarship has been created at the University of Rochester to support his commitment to the value of a fraternity experience and its rewards. The endowed scholarship will give financial assistance to students in fraternities and sororities.
Delta Kappa Epsilon recognizes the importance of interfraternal relations and is proud to help its neighboring fraternity, Alpha Delta Phi, of which Glick was a member and former president of the campus chapter.
Donations for the fund will be accepted at the concert. For more information, contact Rob Lamonica at x4-4263. Contributions also can be sent to: Jeremy Glick Memorial Scholarship Fund, University of Rochester, Gift Office, 30 Wallis Hall, Rochester, N.Y. 14627.
