Nima Mosammaparast, a sophomore biological science/ biochemistry major from Pittsford, N.Y., has been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
Open to sophomores and juniors, the Goldwater Scholarship was established to encourage undergraduate excellence and achievement in mathematics and the sciences.
Winners receive $7,000 a year for one or two years, depending on whether they are sophomores or juniors, to cover undergraduate expenses such as tuition, books, room and board.
The Goldwater Foundation awards approximately 250 scholarships every year.
