To raise awareness and funds for the homeless of Rochester, the brothers of Delta Upsilon fraternity at the University of Rochester will take shifts living outdoors in a cardboard box during their "Homeless for the Homeless" fundraiser. This event is scheduled from noon Friday, Feb. 21, until noon Sunday, Feb. 23, at the entrance to Wilson Commons on the University's River Campus.
All proceeds from "Homeless for the Homeless" will directly benefit the Rochester chapter of Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build simple, decent, and affordable housing for less affluent members of the community. The primary financial contributions for the agency come from local businesses, individuals, and churches. The Rochester chapter is the largest Habitat affiliate in the Northeast and has built or renovated an average of five or more houses per year throughout the past 15 years.
Donations for the fraternity's largest fundraiser of the year will be accepted during the event. For more information, contact Matthew Vnuk at (585) 274-3021.
