To raise awareness and money for people in Rochester who are homeless, members of Delta Upsilon fraternity will live outdoors in cardboard boxes from March 22 to 24 at the University of Rochester.
For the 12th year, fraternity members take turns staying in makeshift housing to bring attention to the needs of homeless people. The "Homeless for the Homeless" project, which collects funds for Habitat for Humanity, will be set up at the entrance to Wilson Commons on the River Campus.
To prepare for the event, a Habitat representative will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the DU house on Fraternity Quadrangle about the organization's goals and programs. The public is invited to attend.
Donations for the fraternity's largest fundraiser of the year will be accepted from noon Friday until noon Sunday. For more information, contact Scott Field at (585) 274-3041.
