The spring semester of "Wilson Commons Wednesdays" kicks off on Jan. 21 with a theme of Mediterranean food and music.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hirst Lounge. Local musicians Steve Tavelarius and Nick Mouganis will be performing traditional and contemporary Greek music live from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The lunch menu of spinach pie, traditional Greek salad, Mediterranean wrap, Moroccan couscous, peas with artichoke hearts, and baklava will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is $7.50. Guest chefs are the 2006 Class Council.
In addition, there will be coupon giveaways from Amiel's Subs and free fudge samples from the Common Market. Vendors representing Tupperware, National Advertising, Jason's Jewelry, L'Avant Garbe, and Trish McEvoy Cosmetics will have displays.
The celebration of "Wilson Commons Wednesdays" is sponsored by Student Activities and Dining Services as a joint effort to engage the entire University community—faculty and staff as well as students—in enjoying an original and festive atmosphere in Wilson Commons.
Future dates and themes are Mardis Gras on Feb. 18 and St. Patrick's Day on March 17. The entire UR community is invited to attend and enjoy the music, food, and friendly atmosphere.
