Stand-up comic Mitch Hedberg will be performing at the University of Rochester at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in Strong Auditorium on the River Campus.
Hedberg began his comedic career in 1989 when he moved to South Florida to develop his act, but it wasn’t until 1996 that he got his break after he was invited to perform at the prestigious Just for Laughs Montreal International Comedy Festival. Since then, he has been successfully touring the United States and Canada.
He has guest-starred in such television shows as Ed, That 70’s Show, A&E’s Comedy on the Road, Comedy Central’s Comedy Product, and NBC’s Comedy Showcase. He has also appeared numerous times on The Late Show with David Letterman.
In 1999, Hedberg’s own independent film called Los Enchiladas! premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Hedberg wrote, directed, and starred in Los Enchiladas!, a comedy about a drifter who gets a job at a Mexican chain restaurant in the St. Paul area, the relationships between the restaurant employees, and the deterioration of the business’ hierarchy over a 24-hour period.
Tickets for Hedberg’s show are $10 and are available at the Common Market in Wilson Commons on the River Campus. Admission is free for University of Rochester undergraduates with ID.
