For the first time, students from the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration and the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering are interviewing with job recruiters in a special off-campus, one-day format.
“In a New York Minute” offers interview and networking opportunities in New York City with representatives from major corporations in banking, accounting, investments, and consulting. The novel approach of gathering undergraduate and graduate students at one site gives recruiters from more than 20 firms—including Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., Deloitte & Touche, and JP Morgan Chase—access to a range of talented students from many disciplines.
Burton Nadler, assistant dean and director of the undergraduate Career Center, says the program is another example of career services innovation and opportunities for students to be job search entrepreneurs. “While many employers visit campus, many more prefer to interview candidates a few blocks from their offices,” he points out. “Through this event, we’re bringing some of the best and brightest right to their doors. In addition to interviews, students are networking with and learning from alumni(ae) on a series of panel discussions.”
“In a New York Minute” is being held today at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Both the Simon School and the College regularly host career activities in New York and other major metropolitan areas during the year for internships and full-time positions.
The Simon School is consistently ranked among the world’s top 30 business schools and renowned for core strengths in finance and economics. Simon provides an economics-based approach to business education that prepares graduates to be analytically sharp and active problem solvers.
The University of Rochester ranks 12th among private institutions in research productivity. The College’s distinctive Rochester Curriculum develops students who are well-versed and intellectually curious, trained to blend research, analysis, and communication skills.
The University of Rochester (www.rochester.edu) is one of the nation's leading private universities.
