A reception with the artist will open an exhibit of new paintings by David A. Walsh, associate professor of art history at the University of Rochester, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Oxford Gallery, 267 Oxford St., in Rochester.
The oil paintings by Walsh, an expert in Romanesque architecture, are filled with facades set in lush landscapes. The painted surface, much like the buildings Walsh depicts, is the product of layering transparent glazes on canvas, which produce luminous qualities.
The exhibit continues through March 11.
