From the pines of Tuscany to the farmhouses of southern France, recent paintings and drawings by David A. Walsh, professor of art at the University of Rochester, are now on display at the Oxford Gallery in Rochester.
A reception with the artist will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the gallery at 267 Oxford St.
Walsh, an expert in medieval ecclesiastical church architecture and interiors, paints landscapes and facades set in lush areas of France, Italy, and England. His paintings possess a luminous quality created by layering transparent glazes on canvas.
The exhibit continues through Saturday, Feb. 22. The gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
