University staff, faculty, and students who won’t be hitting this spring’s hottest break destinations can stop their fretting. Wilson Commons on the River Campus will help them relax with “Island Getaway,” an escape for non-vacationers sponsored by the Student Activities Office and UR Dining Services.
Taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, in The Pit of Wilson Commons, “Island Getaway” will feature live drum music, free smoothies, leis, and coupons to local businesses. There will also be a raffle for beach items.
The menu includes items from the grill such as pulled pork sandwiches, shrimp and vegetable kabobs, fried plantains, and sweet potatoes. Caribbean style food will include Barbados style chicken, beans and soffrito rice, beetroot salad, banana rum tart, Caribbean seafood soup, and banana pineapple slaw. Blimpie will also feature a pork or vegetable Cuban panini.
For more information, contact the Student Activities Office at x5-9390.
