The University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Professor of Music David Harman, will present a free concert on Tuesday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in Strong Auditorium on the University’s River Campus.
This is the second concert of the orchestra’s 50th anniversary celebratory season. The ensemble will perform Richard Strauss’s “Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks,” Antonin Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 8,” and the first movement of Camille St. Saens’s “Piano Concerto No. 2,” featuring sophomore Aedan Coffey as the piano soloist.
Coffey is a winner of this year’s Concerto Competition for River Campus musicians, in which student competitors perform 10 minutes of a concerto, solo, or aria for a panel of judges. Winners of this competition in the fall perform as soloists with the University’s Symphony Orchestra in the spring.
