A suspicious object spotted today at one of the entrances to Hutchison Hall on the University of Rochester’s River Campus was found to be of no danger to the public.
About 7:30 a.m., an unmarked object was noticed outside the Hutchison science building at an entrance on Wilson Boulevard. University Security officers escorted about 50 people out of the building before closing it for a police investigation.
Campus security officers and members of the Rochester Police Department blocked the University’s main entrance at Wilson Boulevard and Elmwood Avenue and rerouted traffic until 9:45 a.m. when the building was reopened. No injuries occurred.
