"The Doodle Show," the current exhibition in the Gallery at the Art & Music Library of Rush Rhees Library, displays more than 70 anonymous drawings by students at the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology. The exhibit continues through Wednesday, Nov. 16.
The idea for the show surfaced from the Senior Studio and Seminar class in the Department of Art and Art History. All drawings on display are taken directly from notebooks of fellow classmates and friends. The doodling appears in the margins, atop class handouts, and some overtake the original class notes. Dozens of them are pinned to the gallery walls and are placed on top of desks positioned in the center of the room.
These visual diaries come directly from large lecture halls and small seminar rooms. Before they leave, viewers are asked to write comments on notebook paper by the gallery door.
Hours for the show are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. The gallery is located on the ground floor of Rush Rhees Library. For more information, contact x5-4476.
