This series of 27 black-and-white photographs includes portraits taken by Christopher Nakis during his travels in Europe. Titled "Der Blaue Reiter," the exhibit pays homage to a group of pre-World War I expressionists, called The Blue Rider, whose spirituality drove their approach to painting.
Nakis's love of photography took a back seat to business ventures after his 1983 graduation from Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in photographic illustration. Among other efforts, he was a co-producer on AfterImage, an independent movie starring John Mellencamp that was filmed in Rochester. He sees this exhibit as a catalyst for printing more of his photographic negatives and advancing the medium of photography.
