Educational consultant and author Paula Kluth will examine the history and current state of inclusive schooling in America and look ahead to beliefs, values, and practices that will help educators succeed in supporting all learners. Her seminar, "Dwelling in Possibility: The Past, Future and Now of Inclusive Schooling," is sponsored by the Mid-West Regional Consortium on Quality Inclusive Schooling, the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester, and Nazareth College.
Kluth is an independent educational consultant and adjunct instructor at National-Louis University in Chicago. Her professional and research interests center on differentiating instruction and on supporting students with autism and significant disabilities in inclusive classrooms. She earned a master of education degree in educational policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a doctorate in special education from the University of Wisconsin. She is a former special educator who has served as a classroom teacher, consulting teacher, and inclusion facilitator.
She is the author of "You're Going to Love This Kid!": Educating Students with Autism in Inclusive Classrooms (Brookes Publishing, 2003), and the lead editor of Access to Academics: Critical Approaches to Inclusive Curriculum, Instruction, and Policy (with Doug Biklen and Diana Straut, Erlbaum Publishing, 2003). She also has written several articles and chapters on inclusive schooling.
