Two individuals within the University of Rochester's Advancement Division have been appointed to new institution-wide positions.
Stacy Slagor has been named the University's executive director of corporate relations and Ellen Thomas has been appointed executive director of foundation relations.
"Corporate relations and foundation relations are pivotal in the context of a research university environment," said James D. Thompson, senior vice president and chief advancement officer. "Those functions must have strong leadership, and we've found two individuals with great experience and deep knowledge of our institution."
Slagor has had more than nine years of experience in corporate, foundation, and government relations, including five years as director of corporate and foundation relations for the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering. In her new role, she will coordinate all University corporate relations activity related to the advancement function. She is a graduate of New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature.
Thomas joined the University from the business world, where she worked as a mortgage banker and broker representing a variety of mortgage lenders. After a short time as assistant director of corporate and foundation relations for the Medical Center, she was promoted to director in May 2001. In her new role, she will supervise a team of foundation relations professionals and coordinate foundation relations activity across the University.
She is a magna cum laude graduate of St. John Fisher College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication/journalism.
