Growing up in Alfred, N.Y., Aman enjoyed listening to the bells in the Alfred University carillon. Later, while a music major at the university, she learned to play the carillon herself. Working and traveling, she found opportunities to play other carillons, including the Washington Memorial National Carillon at Valley Forge, Penn., and the Netherlands Carillon, located in Arlington, Va. Her program will include a selection of University of Rochester school songs as well as popular tunes such as "America the Beautiful," "Yankee Doodle," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and will feature two duets with David Wolfe, who received his master's degree from the University's Eastman School of Music in 2000, on the trumpet.
Concertgoers should bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and even a book to read and can sit anywhere on the Eastman Quadrangle in front of the library to enjoy the music. For more information, contact (585) 275-2828.
