The University of Rochester Symphony Orchestra is a group of approximately 100 University undergraduates, graduate students, and community members that performs some of the most celebrated works in classical music. Formed in 1956, and currently under the direction of David Harman, professor of music and director of orchestral activities, the symphony orchestra continues its 2006-2007 season with this performance of Ravel's Bolero and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6.
The concert will also feature freshman Lydia Park, winner of this year's River Campus Concerto Competition. Park is one of three winners of this year's competition and will be performing the first movement of Grieg's Piano Concerto.
