TIME, DATE, AND PLACE: 8 p.m., Thursday, April 19, in Strong Auditorium on the University's River Campus
ADMISSION: Free and open to the public
The River Campus Jazz Ensemble is a 20-member group dedicated to performing a variety of both big band and contemporary jazz works. The jazz ensemble is currently under the direction of Miles Brown, a doctoral student in jazz studies at the University's Eastman School of Music.
This concert will feature works from composers Charles Mingus, Sammy Nestico, Wayne Shorter, and Bob Mintzer. The Jazz Ensemble will be joined by renowned musician Walter White, who will perform some of his own arrangements as a guest trumpet soloist. White has played lead trumpet with such celebrated jazz artists as Maynard Ferguson and the Mingus Big Band.
